Go-Algo

The discovery and use of the right algorithms, and clever implementations and application, are building blocks upon which the whole concept takes collective steps forward. It is through this remarkable skill that we can attempt unimaginable feats like decoding the human genome, routing millions of packets across networks, and even searching the entire Internet. Go-Algo takes competitors through a series of brain teasers, coding challenges, and algorithmic puzzles, and seeks to engage the sharpest student minds in technology around interesting problems....... It is an algorithm development competition where the participants will have to develop algorithm for the on the spot given problems... The problems will involve basic concepts of mathematics and some real COMMON SENSE.

General information

  • The participants will be given two hours time in the prelims where they will have to develop algorithm for two problems(out of three).A 15 minutes introduction will be given in order to understand the problem. The participants cannot use the paper for first half an hour.No computer programming needs to be done at this level.
  • The prelims is then followed by the finals where the participants will be given one single problem whose algorithms needs to be constructed along with a computer program .The participants can code in c/c++/java. A 20 minutes introduction will be given in order to understand the problem. Time duration is same as that of prelims i.e. 2 hrs. The participants may include the requirement specification and the dfd for the program. They need not to run the program on the computer.

Rules and regulations

  • At most three members per team.
  • The competition has two phase : prelims followed by the finals.
  • Each phase will be of 1.5 hrs duration.
  • In the first round first Half an hour participant will not be allowed to use pen.
  • Only those who clear the prelims can appear in the finals.
  • The closest optimised algorithm will be selected.
  • Judgment will depend on the algorithm and code but their respective weight age will be decided only at the time of finals.
  • Registration Fee - Rs 50/- per member
